Centre for Environmental Research and Innovative Food Technology for Quality of Life, delivered for the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Olsztyn
Everest 5 had the pleasure of participating in the delivery of an advanced investment in the construction of a new laboratory-administration building and animal facility at the Institute of Animal Reproduction and Food Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences (RZiBŻ PAN), one of Poland’s leading research institutions. The project covered a building with a floor area of 7,520 m² and a volume of 24,000 m³, designed with a focus on innovative scientific work in the fields of biotechnology, reproductive biotechnology, and food sciences. Our company was responsible for the comprehensive implementation of telecommunications systems that provide full control and security for the facility.
As part of the investment, Everest 5 implemented an advanced physical security information management (PSIM) solution, which manages the entire infrastructure of the building – including the specialist animal facility – in real time. The physical security information management (PSIM) system was integrated with other key technologies, including the fire alarm system (FAS), intrusion and hold-up alarm system (I&HAS), access control system (ACS), time and attendance reporting system (TARP), CCTV monitoring, VoIP intercoms, and smoke extraction and air suction systems. These systems operate in full integration, enabling simultaneous management of the building’s security, comfort, and operational functions.
In particular, the CCTV monitoring systems include 61 cameras, of which 24 are installed in the animal facility, where video is recorded continuously, around the clock. The access control system was expanded to include 115 readers and 250 users, allowing for precise management of access to various zones within the building. The entire infrastructure was also equipped with smoke extraction and air suction systems, ensuring appropriate conditions in the event of a failure or fire. Throughout the facility, washable and chemically resistant equipment was installed, in compliance with the high standards required in such research establishments.
The entire system is operated from a central platform, allowing for convenient and efficient management of all devices and real-time monitoring of their status. System integration provides complete control over safety, operational efficiency, and building management, while also ensuring the appropriate protection of animals housed within the facility. Thanks to the use of innovative solutions, Everest 5 has contributed to the creation of a secure, modern, and functional research facility at RZiBŻ PAN.
